Would it be too awkward for you to post the name of the school that has cause the grievances, so that any future people will also be made aware of ? |
Because of the situation and how uncomfortable I am with everything surrounding it, I would rather not.... just ask a lot of questions, have time to prepare, don't ever take anything on the spot like I did,,,, with 10 days to be there, and have your work permit in hand from day 1. And, this is to the newbies, not to all of you who gave me so much good infromation. Thank you again. |
This is the thread you started on the school:

That particular school is not the school I went with... so as to not misguide anyone towards that location/school. |

Well, I stand corrected then since from that thread's job requirements, the pm's we corresponded about concerning the school's advertisement at that time in detail, and the ensuing discussion on this thread matching on multiple levels, I had believed that to be the case.
Since you attest to it being a different school, but are not interested in revealing which school to help prevent others from being potentially exploited, that's unfortunate. |

I agree. After getting everyone to give you advice, now you're afraid to help others so that they don't get stuck working for the same business ? |

Bearcat, thanks for posting the link.
I'm not sure why Meagan is protecting a school that by her accounts was a bad employer. Surely, the idea of these forums is not just to gain info for yourself, but to spare others the same misfortune.
It is a shame the rest of us now have to doubt all of the schools in the area. |

| She asked you for photocopies of your college diploma. I had to send my original to Aeon in New York who then sent it to Japan, plus I believe my passport had to go with it. |
You don't necessarily need to send the original diploma. I only needed to send a copy along with either an original set of transcripts or an original signed letter saying that I had graduated.
And as to having to part with your passport... once again they only needed a copy of the info page. The only time I was parted from my passport was when I took it along with my COE to the embassy to process my visa (which we are required to do in person), which was 3 days. quote]
Good to know this, ta. It was three years ago and I've forgotten the details. |
