What an amazing lack of planning! |
Right! But not sure why anyone would be suprised by this. MEXTESOL is not known for their planning or organizational skills. Think of the professional TEFLer's in Mexico City who will now be ubable to attend due to lack of planning. |
Indeed. Lack of planning on their part by not pre-registering for the event. |
That certainly applies to me...I just procrastinated on it as I was super busy the last two weeks.
The last regional was at UVM, with lots of space. Still, I don't think they had even 200 people come then. They've done something right if they managed to get 250 sign-ups beforehand. I follow them on facebook and primarily connect with other members there but strangely the event listing doesn't have many FB attendees (compared to past events anyway).
Greg, you're involved in the organization there...what's different this year? |
I'm not Greg, but a friend of mine who is a higher-up in the national MEXTESOL organization has told me that the new president of the DF chapter is doing a real bang-up job, has injected it with lots of enthusiasm and just plain hard work. That could explain why this conference looks to be a big success. |

Don't forget that MEXTESOL was founded by and run by EFL professionals like you and I.
If you want MEXTESOL to get better, be more orgnised and to cater for your needs, then now is the time to get involved!
I know that the current Mexico City MEXTESOL committee is coming up for election. There are also never enough 'vocals' people who help put with MEXTESOL stuff and of course there is always a GREAT need for teachers to share their experience.
Please, please participate. It's the only way that MEXTESOL will ever improve and help fellow EFLers. By the way, its also great fun to meet other teachers and a lovely way to network! |
