I thought of this as my supervisor was relaying the feedback to me. Generally you don't get anything but "corrective feedback". Much of it just seems like petty complaints but there are some nuggets of advice in there as well. Praise makes you soft in Buddhist/samurai thinking.
I am not worried about my fragile ego per se, but my new contract. My supervisor seemed very ominous about the whole thing and hinted that feedback like this from JTEs may lead them to ask for another ALT. (At previous jobs, we would all get constant criticism and then our new contracts.)
I have tried to inititate more conversation with the kids during lunch, hang around an extra minute or so after the chime and so on. This is my year as an ALT, but I have been teaching for several years now, so I am hoping things get better this next term. Or I need to find a new job soon! |

| Under 4th grade is kinda fun. 5th and 6th grade are more awkward for me. Less open, and harder to start/keep conversations going. |
