After being interviewed in July, I just got a letter saying they were happy with it and I have been shortlisted. It is now up to the colleges to bid for my services. That is what they say.
But what does it actually mean? And how long would that take?

If you are lucky it will take forever; but if your days are numbered you will probably be there next month.

Have you had your sanity checked lately? I ask because only the most desperate of human beings would actually want to work at HCT now. And as you do not appear too desperate, I can only assume that you are quite mad.

Enjoy the lunacy.

Let me try to answer your question... which is based on what happened in the past and may or may not be accurate now. Each of the branches that needs teachers will get a batch of CVs. (do they all get the same ones? who knows...) "Bid" is probably the wrong word, as it isn't a matter of how much they will pay. LOL The salary and benefits will be the same whichever branch hires a teacher.

So each college decides which teacher(s) may fit their needs. The time line isn't set... could take as long as it takes. I would assume that any new hires would be arriving to teach 2nd semester... January start perhaps?

Or... you may never hear from them again. I would keep applying to other positions. Nothing happens all that fast in the Gulf.

Thanks for the replies.

I know there are a lot of complaints from staff about HCT.

I have not read that many after July TBH.

Are things gone worst and ppl just given up even on complaining?

I have to say I am motivated for this job. I even turned down one in Dubai in September to try at HCT.

Trust me I am not mad. I might be optimistic but not mad.

Your interview will remain valid for 12 months and Recruitment will contact you when one of the HCT Colleges wishes to move forward with your application.
You can check the status of your application at any time by accessing your Candidate Profile on the HCT Recruitment website.

No one has reported on what is happening with the new semester. Current employees will tend to avoid posting out of fear. All of my contacts got the hell out in the last year.

It would be unrealistic to expect any improvement. It is the same management and their goal is pretty much to get rid of all the EFL teachers ASAP...
