Really? Cite some examples. What other country provides more aid internationally than the U.S.? You're right, the U.S. does often get others to fight its dirty work. That's the main reason America did not participate in either WWI or WWII. And why Napoleon's reign of terror lasted as long as it did, with U.S. tacit approval. Let us not forget the Roman Empire, financed almost entirely behind-the-scenes by the then CIA. |
Support for the regime of Soeharto which killed over half a million. Support for Pinochet in Chile (overthrowing a democratically elected leader). Support for those responsible for the murder of around a million Indians in Guatemala. etc. |

| I guess you guys got my point! I think it takes a lot of balls to bemoan a country that has been around for less than 250 years for all the world's problems. It's laughable. The U.S. is evil, the U.S. is this/that/ etc. You (collectively) controlled the world prior to America's existence. What share of responsibility do you hold? And, like any empire, America will eventually collapse, then who will you b*tch about, the Chinese? |
I don't think anyone is saying its responsible for all the world's problems, just disagreeing that it has been some wonderful shining beacon.
I mean its very foundations were genocide of the Native Americans. |

Incidentally the USA are currently 100-1 at British bookies to win the 2006 world cup. not bad odds if you think there's a good chance.
England are fifth favourites behind, in order, Brazil, Argentina, Germany, France. |
