My mate went to Bahrain, got a little sozzled, found a prostitute and then when he was sleeping she stole all his money and disappeared into the night. Who was the victim?

Getting "a little sozzled" and then looking for a prostitute is asking for trouble. Your friend could have been physically assaulted... or worse.

You know, if a woman were to go out by herself at night scantily-clad and "sozzled" and then some man raped her, people would be saying, "How could she have put herself into that situation?" Some would even say that she was 'asking for it'. Get real, dmb....your friend got sloppy drunk, picked up a hooker for meaningless sex, and then fell asleep...he might not have been 'asking for it', but he certainly wasn't making good judgement calls that night. Caper Girl I don't know what Nova Scotia is like but the idea of blaming the woman for her rape is no longer socially or legally acceptable in the northeast of the US. Therefore I don't think your turn the tables justification is advisable.

Capergirl didn't justify what happened; she simply criticised the robbery victim's judgment. I'm the one who said he was "asking for it."
If you prefer, I'll re-phrase it. He made himself vulnerable. He took an unnecessary risk.

Although you have already apologized for this remark, I wish to comment on it all the same in case anyone else "misreads" in the same vein. Sometimes I need more than two cups of coffee to become coherent in the morning. Confused I was not blaming any woman for her rape. As graham pointed out, I was merely saying his friend exercised poor judgement.

For the record, I have been a peer counsellor in the past and have also worked for a hotline. I have counselled many a rape victim. I do not think anything a woman does or says is justification for rape. I apologize for even bringing that topic into this ridiculous thread. Poor judgement on my part. Mea culpa. Embarassed

Then it's not meaningful sex it's emotional sex.

And what about a guy/gal with high self-esteem jerking off?

And how is sex and emotional attachment at the same time any different from fish and chips on the same plate?

Your voice might be sweet, but I doubt if it's reasonable.

Two much pretention in this thread.

Maybe a better distinction would be fulfilling sex and unfulfilling sex. I think fulfillment comes when there is a corresponding physical and mental (I won't use the word emotional because its too easily misinterpreted) satisfaction. This is perfectly achievable with casual sex, but I tend to think its more often achieved in a steady relationship. That's not a value judgement, just an opinion.

Wow...it's virtually impossible to post something on this board without someone dissecting the hell out of it. "What did you mean when you said......?" Rolling Eyes *sigh*

I'm sure that sex with a prostitute is very meaningful. My apologies to whatshisname's friend who went to Bahrain. Twisted Evil Not that sex has to be "meaningful" to be good. Get a grip, okay...a prude I am not. I just happen to think that prostitution is degrading and dehumanizing for the prostitute and that anyone who thinks it is "victimless" is kidding him/herself. C'est tout.

*Capergirl flogs herself with a wet noodle for getting on this God-forsaken go-nowhere thread*

"flogs herself" never heard it called that before. Care to give any details?

What did you mean by that?
