I am very sure there were never any real intention of promoting racial hatred. Things we say during arguments can sometimes get a bit carried away. So, could we all just shake hands and forget about this incident and focus more on more important things please?  |

This above is ridiculous and frankly annoying!
And for example at the University where I work, we have over 26 Chinese-English teachers, all of them have a MA.
We are 12 Foreign Experts, divided in two departments, located on 4 campuses, and we all teach the same students!
The only difference is that the Chinese-English teacher travels from campus to campus, and I don't.
Why so many people excel in posting racist information.
They must be the type that likes to fart under the cotton sheet and breeze it immediately after |

[EDITED] There is a difference between being a Chinese English teacher, and being a FOREIGN English teacher. Your Chinese collegues are Chinese English teachers, whereas you are a foreign English teacher. GZ was born in China, raised in USA, and wants to work in China as a foreign English teacher.
I think the the term "ESL" which Babala used caused some misunderstanding as to what she really was saying.

I think you're wrong here, tw. 'EFL' refers only to what is being taught and where, not to who is teaching it.
Virtually all English teachers in China are teaching EFL (English as a foreign language), whether those teachers are Chinese, American, Australian, Pakistani, or French!! Similarly, those teaching French in the U.S. are teachers of 'French as a foreign language', whether they are French native speakers or not.
The contrastive terms that you are looking for are 'foreign teacher' and 'Chinese teacher'. Both can be teachers of 'English as a foreign language'. |

Allow me to clarify what I meant. When I was referring to an ESL position I meant that the teacher would have the same status and pay scale as a FT.
By the way, there wasn't anything racist in what I said. |

| AP has a lot more credibility than the likes of Tofuman and others of his ilk. He has more credibility because he has a vision that's broader and more humane than tofuman's, in particular, and others, in general. AP may have erred about the legal bit, but one mistake does not cause him to lose credibility. Some others, with their supremacist attitudes are far less credible... |

Okay, I'm prepared to let this subject drop; but I have one question. Actually, I'm surprised that nobody else has asked it. (Unless I missed it.)
Alex_P frequently informs others (and indeed has informed me, on one occasion) that they are not in a position to comment on others. E.g. their language, opinions, rules, etc. Yet, virtually all of Alex's posts contain something to that effect.
Alex_P, what sets you apart from us? Why are you in a position to criticize? How did you earn that privilege? And why are you allowed to make derogatory comments about other countries but cry racism when somebody refers to yellow skin?? Not a day goes by that I don't hear a Chinese person exclaim how white my skin is. Are they racist, too? Or is it okay because they are Chinese?

Well put. The concensus early on was that he was a rabid liberal P.C.lefty.
