I can see see through those secret messages. baba's dog holds the secret of the Holy Grail

but it looks like he's burying it in the back garden at the moment.

Sorry.............................

What's the Holy Grail of ELT then?
Motivated students with interests outside the classroom?
A school with lots of support and resources

Maybe you need to start the second part of your research.

EFL/ELT version of "there's no place like home" is "Where's home?"

It certainly ain't Kansas for me! Usually it's Turkey or more specifically Izmir, sometimes it's England but only in a very general sense. The only "home" that I call "home" is my flat here in Izmir.

Speaking of home on this forum reminds me of a certain film where something had to phone home.

Looks like the fellas are catching up. Or has the research been irrevocably tampered with?

I always thought the Holy Grail of ELT was a 9-5 with no weekends. But now I also think it might be that endless supply of brand new board markers they have down in the office. Or perhaps it's being able to send someone over to the other building to make photocopies, but I haven't done that yet, so it could just be rumours of the Grail.

But if baba's dog has the Grail, then it could just be a nice bowl of tepid beer with a spoonful of peanut butter or a juicy mutton bone...

The doggie suggested that we change the poll to include those of a cross dressing nature given recent events. But I told him to stop being childish/Puppyish

Bad dog!

(*patting his head and smiling so he knows he's only been told that as a matter of decorum...*)

I took a day off sick yesterday, looks like I missed all the fun.... Sad

To be honest it wasn't as fun as all that. The poster in question lost anykind of ability to form a decent argument very early on, he complete refuses to engage in any form of intelligent debate. I miss 31, at least he was intelligent and actually had a point.

Buyurun.
(*gives biscuit. A big fat one with a bit of peanut butter and meat sauce*)

I saw how the argument deteriorated. When things turn to name calling and needless belligerence, it reminds me of the playground, like:

Teacher A: One can hardly refuse to be forthcoming with personal information when it's all students know how to ask about and they're trying to communicate.

Teacher B: I disagree. You're a big fat poopy head. I can use petulance to defend any of my actions. My dad can beat up your dad. Etc...

while i'm all over the shop, might as well add my opinion here:
i don't miss 31. yet.
but hey, it's not like i know 31.
it's nice watching things unfold without that constant 31-way groove. feels fresher.

i did enjoy some of his posts, and his style at times. that's 31's trick: the (lopsided) combination of humanity, humour & ire. sympathy vs antagonism.

anyone speculating as to his new identity? can the mods prevent him from reinventing himself and casually (carefully) taking on a new persona? lets think...for me that's been one of the fun parts, but probably annoying for others.

i'm lucky usually, and have no problems. then i go through a spate of bad luck, then it's all good again.

the 'esl_teacher' edited his post a lot.

He's a clever chappy. Last time he was rumbled quickly as the last post of ekmekparasi was only a few days before his first post as 31. The scrabble set and Oxford learners' dictionary didn't fool us. He'll lie low for a bit.
Faustino, do you think he will confind in you again?

He won't be too hard to sniff out.
He's generally quite repetative in his musings.
