Hey guys,
Just wondering if any of you know any decent recruiters to talk to. I know there's a lot of messages saying not to go with them, but to be honest, I'd prefer the security of using one.
That being said, although I might be willing to take a slightly smaller salary than if I went without one, I would like to know of someone who actually delivers on their promises, or tries to.
Does any one have any suggestions?
Thanks guys, any support is appreciated. |

De-wey - do a search for recruiters on this message board...............his website should come up. As you know there will be a lot of negative messages about recruiters even though there are a number of pros for newcomers and those who hate going through the interview process. |

Thanks MM, it's not that I don't like the interview process, I just usually like finding jobs through recruiters better (even here in Canada) - probably because I find it easier to not have to negotiate a wage/salary.
Anyone else know good ones? |

The decision to move overseas should not be taken lightly.
Do as much research as is reasonabley possible on your own. Then ask yourself if you want to sign a year of your life away to a school you have never visited. Probabley not the wisest choice, as web jobs are simply posted words until you are onsite - then their veracity is quickly evident.
You can choose a huge, nameless monolith to place you. The result of your placement is beyond your control, and you may well be placed in an obscure, alien rural environment.
Good luck in your decision.

Of course, you could (should) just place yourself. The idea of not signing to a school you've never visited can be extended further: You should never take a job sight unseen, period. That goes for recruiters, as well. Your best defense is getting here and finding your own job. Think about it. You wouldn't take a job in your home country without first seeing where it is you'll be working. That maxim applies three-fold in a developing country like Taiwan. You fear the negotiating process. This fear will get you ripped off. Don't trust recruiters. If you think I'm biased, read an independent article about recruiters and agents at www.tealit.com
If you absolutely must get your job before you leave your home country, contact some of the larger companies directly. They all have websites. One major company www.hess.com.tw even processes your entry visa before you get here. You can't ask for more assurance than that. Also, don't worry about negotiating. Major chains have wage scales.
BTW, you claim you want the "security" of a recruiter. Funny how that was what my girlfriend and I wanted when we came here. We got shafted. I'll tell you from experience that recruiters offer no security at all. They are only after their commissions. You only think you have security over in Canada thinking that every detail is taken care of. It's an illusion. There are tons of jobs over here. It's a sellers market. Just make the decision to come, relax and get here. Take some time to adjust and look around, then find a place to live and a job. |
