Does anyone have any experience of/info about teaching at Caledonian College? Particularly in relation to how well they treat teachers, helping them find accommodation, salaries etc.
Thanks

I'd like to hear an update, if there's anything to report. |

Well, at least you've got that far! I haven't even heard back from them regarding my application.
What is this disease that prevents the employers from responding to all applicants? Just a standard rejection letter would suffice and then we move on. |

I can tell you that even US ESL education employers don't bother to respond unless they are seriously thinking of making an offer.
Pretty insulting and shows the level of respect given to the field...

When I worked in Oman (prior to relocating to the UAE) I met two or three people who had previously taught at Caledonian College; all moved on as soon as they could. I do not recall what most of their specific complaints were, but I do remember that they mentioned there was controversy over the college not giving them a no objection letter for an alcohol license (the first and last time I ever heard of such a thing happening). Apparently, that was a 'perk' only awarded to management. |

Would love a response to this from Shell but I spoke to someone recently and they said that native speakers arrive but don't stay long. I also see they're advertising and interviewing in the UK so they must want westerners. |

I applied for a couple of non-ESL jobs recently. Today I tried calling HR about them but received no reply.
What is the max age for getting a work visa in Oman? I could not connect with HR to ask that question. |

Most agencies/colleges here advertise for a maximum age of 60, although I've met many teachers here in Oman over that age. |
