|
|
Hello!
I am currently in my last semester pursuing my MA TESOL at a university in the United States. I had taught overseas in Korea for one year and really wanted to make the transition to adults. However, as I have conducted my search, I have found slim prospects for a teacher without two years of full-time experience. I have worked as a GTA while in school, but as a grader and not a teacher, though I have worked part-time at a language school.
What is my job outlook with a MA TESOL and no full-time experience? What is a reasonable salary outlook?
Thank you so much! |

200 countries on the planet...
Help us out a bit ... at least narrow it down to a continent or 2.
That said... MATESOL with no teacher certification and no experience would suggest that your best options for fast(er) employment at the tertiary level would be Korea or China.
If you want to work at the grade school level (k-12) then Korea, Japan (JET), China, or Thailand.
If you have a valid teacher certification to go with that MATESOL then add Taiwan and Hong Kong (NET program).
Private schools (not language academies) in Indonesia would also be an acceptable option.
Starting salaries vary widely as do benefits but by-and-large you should be able to live comfortably and SAVE US$12-15k per year just about anywhere in Asia.
