Thanks, I kept getting conflicting addresses and when on the foreign office site...'how to find us'...it is a blank page... heard they have a lending library in there? I asked a cabbie today and I think he thought I said British Council...try again tomorrow.
John.....the location of the British Council will also be useful. |

Try "Al Konsuliya Al Britanniya" or "Al Sifara Al Britanniya". Of course it is the first but some taxi drivers are not too smart. If the first driver does not know ask another. the British Community Library is in the Consulate. It is near that hotel that sperailises in diving breaks. Oftenm used by airlines. Can't rfememebr the name. |

Thanks John. The maps reminded me - the hotel is Al Bilad. I used to combine a visit to the Library with morning coffee and/or lunch ! Ah, the joys of Youth !
FUNDOK AL BILAD, Tarikh Obhur. If the taxidriver does not understand that, get another one !!!!! |

Interesting that the lending libraries were at the British Council in Egypt and Oman, but I hear that they are all gone now. (the one in Egypt was fabulous... lots of books that should have been in a museum... very old tomes on Egypt... along with the usual newish novels)
