I've seen some egregious stuff in our local papers. See example below.
What kinds of 'other' jobs do native English speakers seek in' your' country (the non-Anglophone country where you live and teach, I mean)?
What experience, skills, and other quals do they tout to entice foreign employers?

College grad from US, 29, male, outgoing, motivated, w/ education/skills in management, logistics, marketing. Last 5 years employed at a newspaper (District Mngr) and US Postal Service, but could learn anything. Would be the best personal assistant. ...email address.... Don't miss out on me! |
I particularly love the last bit;-) |

Job needed immediately or sooner. Au pair, child care, tutor, clean, stock shelves, walk dogs, answer phone (English only.) Seriously, I'll do anything!!! Work permit would be great, but I've been okay without one so far. No real skills, but I'm young, blond, good-looking, and super enthusiastic. Limited Spanish. (Well, none really.)

Ok, I concede defeat in the 'identify-the-callow-and arrogant' contest.
Other examples? |

Dear Xie Lin
Could you send me that job advert please? I think she fits my requirements perfectly.

In need of having some shelves stocked and dogs walked, and not in Spanish presumably, Sasha?
Oh, oh, now I get it. It's the many shelves of your new edition of Murphy's, incorportating the trendy new grammar, of course!! |

She could enthusiastically re-stock your bottles, wash the glasses (if there are, in fact, glasses,) walk the Russian wolfhound, and answer the phone in English. I imagine you could easily entice her with descriptions of the sunny Moscow beach just a block or so from your flat. And no doubt she'll be on the next flight out when you cleverly point out that a move to Russia would immediately (or sooner!) relieve her pretty blond head of any further need to struggle with the Spanish language.

All sounds like a sweet deal to me. I do need a bottle-washer and scrubber. I wonder could she assist me in my linguistic research too? |

That sounds like one for the Moscow travel brochures... "Russia! You don't need to speak Spanish to come here." |

"If this is your first visit to Moscow, you are welcome to it!"
(Official Intourist greeting plastered over the arrivals gate at the airport.) |

Hmmm. . .if I were advising her, I would recommend that she insist on housing before performing any linguistic research duties, as well as a firm agreement that no foreign language be required at any time. English First! (And Only!)
