This is going to be shamefully rudimentary but I'm going to ask anyway.
I'm shortly due to leave for Japan to begin a position there. However, I'm having reservations about the cost of living, and some changes in my personal life have made it imperative that I save more cash. I've heard some negative things about the company I'll be working for, too. I'll go with optimism and give it my best shot but I'm also considering the options if, worst case scenario, I don't make it more than a month...
If I decide to change and try something different, would you recommend Taiwan? I worked in Korea for two years and I have a 125hTEFL. Korea was fun for the first year but so homogeneous and too cold in the winter -- I wouldn't go back. But it is such an easy place to live/work. Taipei looks like a similar alternative but with different pros and cons. If I arrived in Taipei in April-March with $3000 in my pocket, what would be my chances of finding work? |

If you interview well...
...and can go outside of Taipei city proper...
...For example, Taoyuan, Jongli, Dasi, Bade, Greater Taipei.... or even down to Hsinchu, or out to Keelung then you'd have to have two heads, one of them the head of a demonic goat, to not get a few job offers. |
