I was researching these forums to try and detect any scams that come through my e-mail at the moment and I saw an Embassy CES thread.

Now, as per usual, the majority of the comments were negative and the figures slightly outdated.

You do get a higher wage than the �200 per week people were getting before.

However, a lot of your experience depends entirely upon the centre managers that you get. I have worked for Embassy at their Portsmouth and Southsea centre for the past 3 summers and about to embark upon my 4th summer if I don't find something else. I have been fortunate enough to work with the same centre managers for every year and have very rarely found there to be any problems on site with anyone.

The same goes for who you speak to at head office. There are some people who you wouldn't trust with a mop and some water to do the cleaning properly, but there are others at head office who are very good at their jobs. The only times I have ever had problems is when head office has claimed that I did not send them my documents. So I e-mailed them my confirmation e-mail that I always ask for, they look, and they find them.

Only bad thing I have to say is that they do tag people as "unemployable" and yet they still end up employing some of these people.

Other than that, my feedback has always been good but they refused to take me on as a teacher because I don't have 1 years experience. Whether that is standard procedure or not I don't know. It seems to depend entirely upon numbers and what happens during the summer.

Don't be put off by the previous thread as they are not as bad as people are saying. Keep a level of perspective in mind too, because we all know that standards in schools differ between regions and countries and summer school centres will be the same.
