Hi all,

A newbie here thinking about making a move to Saudi.

Apologies for asking such novice questions but here goes;

(1) What would you say the average cost to rent a nice place for a husband, wife and young child would be?

(2) How hard or easy is to find a place that's vacant?

(3) What are some of the better locations for somebody bringing a family and what areas would you recommend to avoid?

Thanks a lot.

What's your housing allowance and where is your job located?

Dear TheFellow,

These may help:

Sorry, can't answer Number 2 - especially since you asked Number 3. If you don't have a specific destination in Saudi, it's almost impossible to give specific answers to your questions. Conditions, prices, vacancies can vary widely. But I'd say stick to the "big three": Jeddah. Riyadh, Dhahran.

Regards,
John

John - thanks a lot for all of that info, really appreciate it. Smile

Nomad Soul - it's a little up in the air at the minute, I'll report back later if and when I have more detailed information.

Thanks again.

I would be careful of any set-up where I had to find and pay for my own accommodation. I would not trust someone in real estate in the UK. Why should I trust one in the Middle East ?

It is really much better in a set-up where the employer provides housing.
