This was last year... it will be interesting to see how many get the full sentence. Oman had a similar case a few years back. Coups are not exactly unusual in the Gulf... both Oman and Qatar's current rulers came to power by coup, but usually they come from within the ruling family. I suspect that this is more about stalling any growth of a local Muslim Brotherhood type organization. But the facts aren't likely to come out for the general public.
