Hello, I'm a new teacher who just got a CELTA. I'm from the US and graduated in linguistics. I have around a semester of teaching experience prior to CELTA, but after an online certificate. I'm thinking about going to Russia or Ukraine.
I was wondering how are wages in a private school in second tier cities such as Volgograd, Kazan, etc . From online offers, it seems to be around 1000-1200usd/month, what about part time jobs(I mean per hour) in language schools? I also want to know how much should I charge per hour for one to one private lessons in these cities. I'm thinking about 25usd/hr or more(around 800rb/hr or more) for private lessons. What about private lessons for a 3-4 person class?
What about other big cities?

Hello Keepreal,

Unfortunately I can speak much on wage levels and job opportunities outside of Moscow. But at the moment I'm mostly teaching privately here in Moscow and I generally charge 1000rubles per 45 minutes for private lessons at my flat and the price increases the further away from my place the student lives. In addition, I'm teaching an in company class of about 6 and I charge 1500rubles per 45 minutes. I feel these prices are reasonable for me and at around the average Moscow lesson prices.

However, I do and can charge more for children and teens. Typically plus 1500rubles per 45minutes.

I have seen similar online offers as you mentioned in 2nd tier cities quoting the same wages. From what I have seen and experienced here in Moscow, with your experience, you would probably be looking at around the same wages, but more like 1200usd +/- 200usd, including accomodation, flight, etc....

The most I've ever made strictly working at a language school was around 2200usd with no accomodation, flights. But of course now that I'm working privately, I am doing much better financially.
