There are now just nine UK universities in the world's top 100, compared to 10 last year and 12 in 2011. The University of Leeds dropped out this year, joining the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the University of Sheffield who fell last year.

It won't be long before the UK has only two universities in the top 100 and we all know which ones they are, right? |

End of Empire. We are no longer "Top Nation." We passed that role on to the US because we did not want the Germans to have it. Germany is now a cilvilised, developed high-tech State, while the UKofGB&NI is rapidly goung down the tubes. |

So how come that Germany only has 5 universities in the top 100?
The UK can never compete with the US, where everyone pays massive fees of up to $50,000 a year for university education. |

What's interesting is that the Asia region has 15 universities in the top 100, which seems to correlate with their rise in economic power in the world. Watch that number increase over the next decade. |

Germany a high-tech state? Not too slick when it comes to computers though, it seems to me...
Great beer, however! |

They used to make good tanks but made the mistake of focussing on quality when quantity was needed. |
