What is the best country for finding decent work and having opportunities to meet someone local to marry?
I know this is a bit of a strange question - but I'm trying to get an old friend of mine off his butt (he's in his forties) and do something nice with his life!
So I ask this a little tongue and cheek!  |

Everywhere.
You can find locals everywhere, including your home town. In fact, I'll wager that there is a "local" living on the same street as your friend. Perhaps even as close as next door.
Finding one who would date and/or marry him is another matter.
Finding decent work is also another, separate, matter and will largely depend on a number of factors including his qualifications and/or expereince.

Indonesia is screaming out for native speakers of English, the salaries (outside the language mills) are pretty good and there are hundreds of really fit lasses, with the cutest bums you've ever seen, who'll marry your friend unless he's a really sad case with warts and smells like a dog's jockstrap.
One bit of advice; stay away from the expat hang outs.
He'll just end up with a gold digger or prostitute with AIDS tossed in free of charge. |

Thanks for the advice people. I am ready to beat my friend! He is one of my oldest college friends and we've had many late night talk and drinks together over the years. Quite a likeable guy, but unfortunately he has absolutely no direction in life!
He is well enough educated to teach ESL abroad an Honours BA in Sociology), but laments about not finding working and collects unemployment insurance and goes from temp job to temp job. The guy is 41 and needs to get going with his life or... life will completely pass him by...
I know he could meet a local girl, but in his state of barely or not working - nothing lasts for him. No girl wants to hang around him too long without any future.
I'm in Japan and am married to a Japanese woman, but it's not so easy to come here and start out as an ESL teacher anymore. Other places I think have more jobs. I just wasn't sure about the marriage scene, so I put up this post.
We'll I'll show him this post and hope it will give him a bit of a kick to do something with his life. If not... then at least I tried  |
