How many times have you been walking down the street, or sitting on a crowded subway ...

glanced over your shoulder, and wondered if that geeky dude staring at you might be

'so and so' from Dave's ? Of course you're much too PC and shy to say anything

so you get off the subway or keep walking without uttering a word.

Happens to me every day here in Bangkok.

So I was thinking

What if ...

Dave were to open an ESL Cafe merchandise shop, offering

Polo shirts, T-shirts, baseball caps, pencil sets, back-packs, etc ?

The shirts would be 100% cotton, in the Dave's website colours

eg, tan shirts with blue trim around the collar and sleeves -

and the pockets would be embroidered with our username

in rainbow colours, just like the website headers.

Suspended members would receive, absolutely FREE -

a detachable velcro patch featuring a red slash (like this /)

which could be easily Shocked pasted over their username.

If you saw somebody wearing an ESL Cafe T-shirt,

surely you'd stop and say something, right ?

Over the past 16 years of TEFLing around the world,

I've met quite a few Dave's members up close and in person,

and I must say I have enjoyed each of those encounters !

Wearing an ESL Cafe T-shirt just seems like a GREAT way to

increase the odds of making personal contacts a bit more likely.

A portion of the profits could even be put aside into a special account,

and donated to charities and relief organizations when disaster strikes.

So, who's in ?

I predict a demand for the detachable red slash version.

How about one with

"I got banned from Dave's"

0r

" I lurk at Dave's"

$20.00 is RMB160.00. That's a lot of T shirts here.

^ Hi Rabid

Does this mean you'll agree to handle production & distribution ?

Our new slogan:

Take that price down dammit !

Works for me.

Is that $20 US or CAN? Either way that's not too bad at UK prices - or is that just the weak dollar.Wink

I'd wear it, although not if I was giving it the 'bella figura' in Italy!

How about a screen print of your avatar on the back? Of course you'd have to charge some people extra due to the sheer size of their's. Hmmm the same might need to be so for some of our usernames... Perhaps there might also be room for some of your smileys Kent, just to add that extra touch of class. Very Happy

Sign me up for a dozen,
