Hi one and all,

I use to follow this forum page a lot, then left Istanbul in 2008, and now thinking of moving back to Istanbul with family,

I now have a Masters in Education and Business Admin. Plus 8 years teaching in Istanbul 5 years teaching in Australia high schools and 3 years in higher education, do you think this is enough to get me a good job. Whats the market like these days, (NOT INTERESTED DARSANES (?) )is it the right time to head back or should I stay in OZ Question .

Turkey in general sucks. The culture is one where if you like to drink beer you are only offered Efes brand, which really sucks and would not even be drunk in Europe at a bar for stray dogs. The job environment is one where the lazy students will not really try hard to learn English and they will even tell you that you are wrong about relative clauses, defining AND non-defining, and if you try to teach 1st, 2nd and 3rd conditionals they will say it is too hard and they will complain that they no longer want to study English. Forget about teaching reported speech or narrative tenses. They will npot grasp it. YOu will be just barely hitting their limit with future perfect coninutous or future perfect and past perfect continuous vs past perfect/simple past will anger them to a degree that they will no longer take you out for Nargileh or tea or even for things like sweets and coffee.

I recommend staying in Oz. This was my real and true experience in Istanbul.
