Firstly, I apologize for not being able to figure this out. If someone can give me a rundown on how to use the search feature better, I would love it. I can't figure out how to get specific info.

Do I use a recruiter?
Do I just start emailing Universities?
Do I just wait for ads to come up?(I've found in other industries this to be the worst way to get a job)
Anything to look for etc?

I have a BA in Sociology, 15 years as a tennis teacher, and no TEFL yet.

I'm going to try to get a job where I can come back for a summer job in the states, but not sure if I should mention that while applying.

I would say that good housing is important. As long as the pay is fair, and I can supplement with tutoring or something, that's ok.

Not all Unis place ads. They don't need to.

You'll probably need some kind of TEFL and teaching experience for the vast majority of jobs.

Use the search feature next to FAQ (not the site search).

Most Unis are on holiday (generally) in July and August. If you need to be in the states in June or September, Uni jobs probably aren't going to work out for you.

As for recruiters, the majority of people who have posted an opinion on this site say that it's ok to use recruiters in some circumstances. As it happens I disagree strongly, but here's a thread about it.

Load yourself on to sites like seriousteachers.com.
Once that's done it is just a click to apply to ads. No fee to teachers and some search capability if you are keen on certain locations.
Weren't you looking at sports-related unis?

no need to mention it, unless the summer job is unusually long. unis should
give you nearly two full months off.
