I'll be starting a PhD in language education in July purely for motivational reasons. I was just wondering what kind of opportunities having a PhD in this field would offer me in the ME. Thanks in advance. |

Not much more than with a speacialist MA. In fact some employers will be reluctant to hire you to teach English ! The big demand is for classroom teachers who can babysit male students and give them a bit of entertainment and some English.
Some institutions may be impressed by your doctorate. Those institutions are usually the ones that are in desperate need of a reality check !
Watch ouit for the rule that states that teaching experience only counts AFTER your highest degree. So if you taught for 10 yaesr before doing your PhD, that will be ignored in placing you on the salary scale ! |
