Quick word of warning, several of the schools posting on the internet looking for ESL teachers have a rather high turn over rate, and the pay-rates that these schools are listing, is less than half of what one would normally get in Ulaanbaatar. This is NOT China, and living costs are quite a bit higher than China or even Korea in some instances. |

I have seen several small International (or "international") schools in UB advertising with roughly the same package: c. 1200 USD / month (equivalent), plus housing, plus airfare. Elite International, Hobby School, and one or two others.... Is the CoL really so high that (with housing paid on top of salary, the average bear could not save anyting living there.... and are these salaries low, by your consideration, for the city? Also do you (anyone) have any personal knowledge or input about these schools?
Cheers,

Hobby used to be the best. Its director (founder) is a very clever woman. Unfortunatelly she is very ill and has entrusted her "work" to a new principal. It was desastrous. All the western teachers except 1 left the school last year.
Elite: Is a Gulem school, that is to say, a Turkish school in disguise. No photos/flags of the UK, the USA, etc, only of Turkey and Mongolia. There is a new principal who is much better than the one who occupied the position two years ago. By then ALL the western teachers left (for two consecutive years). I am not sure about the new principal. By the way, no matter what the students had learnt, Western teachers were told to give grades over 80% to all of them.
If I were you I would try Hobby. |

Really??? Based on those accounts, if I were you, I would stay away from both of these places. |
