Hi everyone,
I am currently trying to assess all possible outcomes in the future year and I was just wondering where in Asia would be a good place to teach (preferably at a uni), save a decent amount of money, and establish academic connections. I will be finishing my MA in May and am planning to pursue doctoral studies either in the fall 2013 or fall 2014 and am trying to decide whether I should spend a year teaching and saving some money. I guess what I would be looking for would be a university type position and workload, a decent income, and the possibility to do some pilot investigation for future study. I know what the situation is like in Japan and South Korea, so where else in Asia would potentially be suitable.
I have had a particular interest in Central Asia and Western China, though I am not opposed to anywhere.
