| Is it feasible at all to travel to Dubai from Jizan if one had a few days leave or would it be prohibiltively expensive/difficult ? |

It will depend on the method of travel.
The best option is to use air travel from Jizan to Dubai through Riyadh. Hotels in Dubai are expensive, a cheaper option is to look for hotels in Sharjah which is not very far from Dubai.
If you fancy traveling by car, then the option is to transport your car to Riyadh, and fly from Jazan to Riyadh and use your car to travel from Riyadh to Dubai. I am not sure if Jazan airport has direct flight to Dubai?
BTW, did you visit Farasan island which is 40 km offshore from Jizan coast. I have visited this island, and find it very good destination for its wildlife resources and diving activities.

Online timetable from Saudi Arabian Airlines gives round trip costing from 850 to 1400 SR. Note on airline timetable they use the spelling GIZAN

| Alternatively, as the lawyers say, you could go with flydubai direct from eg Abha. Book well in advance, of course for the lowest fares. |
