Hello,
Quick question - is it unusual for companies to ask for documentation before offering a position? We have a 'Skype demo' scheduled but they have asked for quite a lot of documentation before we've even had the demo's.
Salary advice - Been offered HKD12,500 each a month including accom. We're a couple with TEFL's and degrees. (no Celta/Delta though.) One of us has 3 year experience and is the Director of Studies, the other has 2 years experience and is Senior Teacher. We both work for a well establish teaching school in China. Could we hold out for a better offer or are we being greedy? We want to be realistic here.
Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

documentation - it's usual they'll want to see proof of quals and experience, yes
salary 12500x2 with accommodation - lets say accommodation would be 10000+, therefore 12500x2 + 10000 = 35000. 35000 / 2 = 17500. A salary of 17500 is low, but if you don't have CELTA, probably can't get much better. Check out newspaper website of SCMP to compare jobs. |

Yes...that does seem a little low. However, as there are so many people trying to get into HK at the moment it might be worth taking it, getting that all important visa and then jumping ship as soon as something better comes along... |
