I've been accepted into a BEd program in a province that I will probably not teach in. The forecasted job growth isn't rosy for that province (possibly making it easier to enter a BEd program in that province?). So I hope to teach in a different province than the province I studied in. As I was looking through the BEd courses, I noticed that 8 of the 51 courses deal with issues related to that province (e.g., technology, communications). I know that completing a BEd in the same province as you wish to teach in is ideal. But, how much difference does it make? How much of a loss is it? Are the province-specific courses relevant for many provinces?

It depends on the province/territory. I know that NWT will accept British Columbia's BEd without additional upgrading (I have several friends currently working in NWT with BEds from British Columbia). Quebec requires an application and "review" by a bunch of bureaucrats and considering the current language climate, I would not expect a positive response without a French language background. |
