Just dunno what I am going to do now that my favourite show has come to its end. With unerring historical accuracy, beautifully photographed action scenes, philosophically thought-provoking dialogue and screenplay, this TV series outlines the sheer horror of the original piggie power and its true, cruel intentions for the proletarian classes. But also graphically illustrates the heroism in resisting such piggieness, no matter the material cost. It shows us the birth of the legend that is Spartacus - a name that adumbrated the heroic pantheon of Marxist world revolutionaries.
It is tough being a legend when you have to follow such names as that, hic!

No, it is a recent TV series. Extremely graphic and violent.
Kirk's film was wonderful too, though, and you'll notice the tribute paid to Kirk and Kubrick's film in the re-iteration of the 'I am Spartacus' line. |

The original Spartacus of course was a Thracian. Present-sday Bulgarians lay claim to him ! There is a HUGE statue in the centre of Pazardjik near Plovdiv.
In Caledonia we make do with Calgactus, another freedom-fighter against the tyranny of the Roman Empire ! |

There may be something to that claim, Scot. Bulgarians, being Slavs, do display the same freedom-loving traits as all Slavic nations - the spirit of true liberalism, hatred of imperialism, prepardeness for heroic self-sacrifice etc., and these are qualities that Spartacus also displayed, of course. |
