Hi,
I have been teaching in Korea for the past 3 years. I have a BA and a TEFL.
I'm am sick of working with kids, they just stress me out now to the point of hurting my health.
So I want to teach Adults, preferably in Tokyo as it's been a dream of mine for years to live there.
So any suggestions what are the good adult teaching companies to work for? |

So far I've only heard of BERLITZ and GABA. Anyone have any others and stories of which is the better one to work for?
Thanks! |

GABA and Berlitz both teach children as well as adults. The only place I know that offers adults only is Westgate, as they have separate intake streams for university and kids teaching. (Assuming you class Japanese university students as adults.) |

Try Nichibei.
They are in Shibuya, Shinjuku and Ikebukuro. |

Does Berlitz and Gaba mandate that teachers must have both adult and kid students?
In Korea I know that Berlitz offers teachers the option to teach adults only. |

I think it depends which location you are in, but you don't get a lot of say in that. With GABA the centers that don't teach kids are in the main business areas and they rarely put new hires there. For other centers, if you have your own visa (e.g. a WHV) and can afford to work part time then you can avoid teaching kids 99% of the time. (You may still have to teach them very occasionally). It's unlikely you'd be able to get sufficient hours only teaching adults in a center that has a lot of kids' classes.
Whenever I've seen Berlitz advertise full time positions round here it's been for a mix of adult and kid classes. I think they advertise jobs on their website so you could check there. |

AEON is mixed work, adult and kids classes, right down to baby classes. |

I've heard horror stories about Aeon treating you like a kid, though, so maybe avoid them if you want to be treated like a professional. |

Do the British Council do kids classes? (I think you need a CELTA or equivalent qualification to work for them.) |
