I have a complicated situation in China and was wondering if anyone could help.

Last March, I was supposed to work at a university in Dalian, China and got a Z-visa. I got the foreign expert certificate from the university, and got a Z-Visa in Korea where I worked at the time.

However, I had an emergency and couldn't go. I told the school I could arrive in 3 weeks, and they found another teacher before that time so they told me I didn't need to come. We stayed on good terms.

I recently arrived in Shanghai to work with a large company here. I arrived on a tourist visa, because this company reliably changes the visa into a Z-Visa, for most of their many employees.

However, when they tried to apply for my foreign expert certificate, they were told I need to cancel my last one. I contacted the old university and they said they would help, but didn't know what I needed. The HR at my current job has been no help at all, and are totally confused.

If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it.

ooh, change your title.

they don't want the z-visa cancelled. that simply expired.

they want you to cancel the FEC. if you told your old school to cancel
the z-visa that's why they were confused. they should know how to
cancel an FEC.
