|
|
I am leaving in one month and a half for Oaxaca, but my employer told me yesterday he needs my apostilled documents to take to immigration in order for them to issue an authorization number that I can take to the consulate here in the US, so I can get pre approved for my temporary resident visa.
I hadn't gotten all my documents apostilled yet because I thought I wouldn't need them until I arrived in Mexico, but will be sending them to my employer on Monday.
I just want to know if anyone has had experience with this new process, and if anyone can tell me about how long it takes immigration (in Mexico) to process the employer's request? I am leaving so soon, and am very worried that immigration will not issue the authorization number in a timely manner. |

Odds are, everything will be just fine if you can get your apostilled documents to them soon (DHL perhaps).
From the description your prospective employer appears to be on the ball with this.
Good luck. |

It depends on the step the school is at with immigration here in Mexico. If they are registered with INM and have already been authorized to make job offers to foreigners, then it will take up to 25 working days to get that authorization for you (though it can be faster).
If they are only at the preliminary steps of registering with INM, then it will take longer...60 days. |

Have you already bought your ticket?
I think it will take at least 10 working days from the time the school submits the papers, because I've dealt with Oaxaca immigration and for them everything is "call in ten working days".
Is this immigration in Oaxaca City or Huatulco?
If you let me know the name of the school--in a pm if you perfer--I might be able to tell you a little bit more. |

That school should have a long standing relationship with INM. I have met foreigners who have worked there. (Though their legal status was not part of our conversations so there is an off chance that they don't.) |

The detail, and accuracy, of this information, given to the applicant by the school, was enough to convince me that things were on the right track. Glad to hear there is even more evidence that that is the case with this applicant.
With the new laws in place, distance hiring will become more and more the norm, and the routine, just as it is in many other countries which require getting a visa, abroad, before arriving to work. |
