Hello
I am new to the CR forum. Does anyone know about this town. I received an email offer. Nothing firm just a inquiry.
I am currently in China teaching. What is the town like? Are there people of color/blacks? I know its near Prague, but not much else. Also, I read the history of the Jews.
Thanks |

I was in Sokolov, but it was 10 years ago and I don't remember too much. It is in an industrial part of the Czech Republic, and as you probably know, it isn't a huge city (25,000 people). However, it is quite close to many beautiful towns.
It isn't that close to Prague. I believe it takes almost 3 hours to get to Prague (157km) by bus (student agency). If you go by train, it takes even longer.
I live in a city of 45,000 people, and there is probably just one black man that lives here. I believe he teaches as well. I imagine it is much the same in Sokolov. |

Unemployment in north Czech Rep is quite high, so getting privates maybe hard.
Secondly, if the school is making its enquiry to somebody who is woking in China then it makes me think that they are having difficulty in finding anybody who wants to work there. Yes for 4000USD a month I would, but that salary not going to happen in Sokolov. |
