I've worked in Italy in the past, when i began teaching.

Im currently working elsewhere and have the opportunity to do both a celta YL and DELTA.

I eventually would like to come back to Italy (anywhere but milan) and hopefully earn better than I did at the start of my career (900-1000/month in the south of Italy).

Do schools there value these two qualifications? Are they worth doing?

I don't know how long ago you last worked in Italy, but the salary range you quote is about the same now. You'll probably get a bit more in Rome and the other major cities, but salaries are generally showing no signs of improving.

I wouldn't bother breaking a leg to get either CELTA YL or DELTA. I have the DELTA and it has made absolutely no difference to how much I get paid. Someone like the British Council may well be interested in the YL, but the BC are only in Rome and I think Napoli in terms of central / south Italy.

There's a lot more YL work in Italy, so any experience you can get (or doing the YL Cambridge exams for example) would be useful. Then if you find you need certification to progress, you could think about doing it distance or whatever while you're here.
