Can anyone who has recently gotten a visa to work in Suzhou confirm that they will only issue the docs up to one month in advance? Meaning that you probably wont get your visa until about twenty days before youre supposed to start since DHL is about five days and visa processing is also about five. |

so work around it. tell your school to change the start date on the
contract. for 'zample starting work in september, but you want your
visa before summer vacation. add a clause that salary and benefits
begin september first. remember you have to apply for the rp within
30 days of entering china. |

Yes. The Chinese visas in my passport each have a 3 month gap between issue date and enter before.
In my experience, schools seem to want to have paperwork for new teachers sorted out before mid July from which time they shut down until late August.
Personally, based partly on my experience and partly on my intuition, I would be concerned that any school that wanted to leave the document processing until 1 August (you said, one month in advance September 1 start date) was doing so in order to leave their options open, i.e. the job offer will be withdrawn if the school finds a better teacher in the interim. |

I know the school.is legit. The one month window I think i could deal with if it were just me. But since I have a baby and am the only one supporting her...i just cant take the chance. They start the visa process in mid july since my start date is mid august. They said they dont know when school will start yet.
I will email and ask about putting the start date earlier like june1st and then say i wont be paid until beg sept. I really need the visa before i go on vacation. I mean i could wait until later but dont want to screw over my current school by quitting at theast minute. Nor do i want to screw myself over and be jobless. |

You might want to check on the school a bit. Some of us worked in Suzhou University and their sub-schools and might have valuable information about the school, past experiences, and what to expect.
Suzhou has a few dozen universities in it. Some have good reputations, others have extremely poor reputations. |

Other teachers ive talked to have confirmed that they had to wait until July. So I can either come on a tourist visa and go to HK or see if theyll change my start dates..Im not sure if Ill be able to get the visa in the US since my medical isnt from there. And i dont have american.insurance. Nor do I want to get another medical...my fourth..in six months. Sigh. Maybe its not meant to be. |

Bangkok rejected my Korean issued medical check.
Doesn't mean for a second the U.S will reject yours.
Prepare yourself for another round of jabs nonetheless. |

Yeah, kungfuman you're right, though I'm starting to believe in fate. If it's meant to happen it will. |

I just found out that Suzhou now requires a criminal record check for the visa. This policy just started last week. |

Oh my gosh, this is hilarious. It just keeps getting better. I'm starting to think I'm not meant to go to China. |
