Hi,
I work at an national plus school in Jakarta, but am looking for some part time evening or weekend work. Do you know if this is possible at either TBI or Wall Street? If so, what are the hourly rates? I'd like to avoid EF for the obvious reasons.
Cheers,

TBI are no more honorable than EF at some branches. Do not even consider TBI Bekasi where they seem not to pay teachers promised bonuses at times. Met 2 guys who worked there who described it as 'the worst 6 months of their life'. From the debate on here, TBI are hiring loads of illegal teachers on business visas. Kuningan seems to be the best branch for 'on the sly' work. I think Wall Street has taken the legal path and aren't employing expats illegally. |

Interesting. I guess I may have to start the process of applying for permanent residency so part time work can become a legitimate option. |

Curious why you would say that you don't want to work at EF. Whatever their weaknesses, I have never heard of them not paying salaries? Even the dreaded EF Swara pays salaries, right? What makes them worse than TBI in your opinion?
In terms of casual work options, I heard that Direct English often employs expats on the sly too. I think they pay Rp 200.000 an hour too. Not bad all things considered. |
