Tokyo is close to Narita, but honestly there is a lot of stuff do to in Narita, too. A mall, the Naritasan Shinshoji temple, karaoke... |

Take the Skyline express train out to Ueno, check out the Ameyoko Market and then you can take a train to Asakusa Temple right next door for more "traditional" or Akihabara for a more kitschy pop culture experience. Ueno Park is also cool as it has some small shrines and memorials but it's huge and you may well wander for hours. Asakusa and Akihabara I'd say are relatively bite-sized that you can take in for a couple hours and say you dropped by Japan. |

Ah yes Akihabara!!! The famous electronic district! I remember hearing about that place and always wanted to go there! Seems like theres alot of things for me to get into during my layover...hopefully I can get through to one of my Japanese friends to hang out with me so I don't get lost sightseeing!!!
I believe that Arcades are still pretty popular in Japan right? But there called gaming centers....are the gaming centers 24/7...my layover will be taking me to the next day so I figure I can crash at a 24/7 spot if I get tired...anybody know of any 24/7 internet cafes as well? |

Yep. Game Centers are still common here and are awesome! You can even do online gaming at arcades here. |

Red light districts in Japan are ludicrously expensive and notoriously prohibitive to foreigners and I'm probably earning mod's ire just alluding to this stuff. Not to say it can't be done, but, if you're staying overnight, I'd honestly just hit some bar in Ueno and try my luck that way.
Tokyo Tower is quite a ways (30 minutes) from Ueno, let alone Narita and Sky Tree is an even bigger tourist trap. If you really need a view of all Tokyo, go to the Shinjuku Government Building. It's also 30 minutes away but it's free and offers just as good a view with a much more reasonably price bar. |

Putting the "lay" in "layover"?
Rusty gave you all you need to know about that. If that is you in the picture and have any decent skills at talking to a woman in a bar, you should be fine in that regard, you handsome lad.
But you'll have to choose. Even the express train between Narita and Tokyo takes a couple of hours. Girls will also take a couple of hours. Getting around Tokyo with take several hours. You only have twenty of them.
My suggestion? Go stand in the middle of the Shibuya scramble and take a picture just so you can say you've been to one of the most famous locations in the world. |

Thanks Rusty....Yeah Japan is pretty expensive and prohibitive to foreigners in certain places...So yeah I'll check out one of the bars or clubs and work my magic there...with my charm and skills....it won't be hard. Sky Trees a tourist trap you say? Shinjuku government building? I'll check that out for sure!
LMAO @ TWG! Yeah I'm going for the "lay" in layover! I'm sorry but it's gonna be hard not to be like a kid in a candy store...but Rusty did give some good advice about it Thats me in the picture... and yeah my talk game is up to par.....thanks for the compliment....I plan on taking alot of pictures for what it's worth LoL |
