How good or bad is the air pollution these days in Warsaw and it's suburbs? |

Not entirely sure what this has got to do with teaching, but to throw in my tuppence worth, several reports I have read confirm that Warsaw, Plock and Lodz are all fairly even in terms of pollution (I think around 32 m/g or something is the average, which is still not great). Just to give you a comparison with other cities...
I live in Lodz, and I can't say I feel it, especially now the textile industries have closed down. . I have spent time in Warsaw and feel it more there..
However, with the sheer volume of traffic in Warsaw and the traffic jams, I'd say this average particulate number is generous..
I couldn't stomach living in Krakow, that's for sure. |

Thank you for your comment, John 123.
Its good to have an idea when one has been offered a position there. Air pollution and the exacerbation of asthma, allergies, and other health issues is a deciding factor for me.
Any other comments on pollution toward the southern outskirts of the city? |

numbeo.com is about as useful as a chocolate teapot.
Look, Warsaw is polluted. Compared to Madrid, London, Paris, and Rome - maybe it is better. Particles still disperse towards the outskirts of a city, it's just common knowledge.. Main roads still appear around the outskirts..
I live 200 metres from the main road in Lodz - but rarely have to open the windows and have a good air purifier/ioniser machine thingamebob, which seems to have a good effect in my flat
I understand your concerns.. I take my health seriously too.
Regards
John |

This report here is definitely more academic than numbeo: http://www.pjoes.com/pdf/18.2/293-300.pdf
Like any city of its size, Warsaw is going to have some air quality issues from time to time.
But with all the green space and lack to serious traffic congestion in the center, I can't imagine air in Warsaw is a serious health risk. Certain parts of the suburbs are worse. |
