Evidently there will be no amnesty extension.

Are ESL teachers working in KSA with illegal visas in jeopardy? I wonder when the crackdown agents are going to pick up TheEasyLife. |

Employers with wasta are not likely to feel the full effect of this change, are they? For example, Shabaka in Hofuf has employed large numbers of expat teachers on tourist visas in the past(and may still do so). A Saudi senator is the owner, so I doubt if the authorities will crack down on his dubious operation. |

I was under the impression entry for tourism wasn't permissible in the KSA.
Has anyone actually found it difficult to get their laundry done? I imagine there are enough workers here - 9 million at the last count - to fill any gaps. Plus many/most of the 'illegals' were partners or family (of those with Iqamas) who came over for Umrah and 'forgot' to return. |

Funnily enough, the small one man laundry I visited tonight had a Saudi running the show. |

All over now. All the companies (even the dodgy ones) are employing people with iqamas only. Anyone still in the country with the work visit visas is being sent back to their country.. One university I know sent away everyone on such visas last week. |

Which university was that? How are they possibly managing without all the staff |

Not true, Current A.- most of the teachers here at KFU have been brought in by our employer(Shabaka) on business visas because they weren't qualified/experienced enough to gain legal Saudi work visas. |

Let's see what happens then. I think they will all be sent away/locked away pretty quickly.. The Saudis are really cracking down this time. Keep us updated! |

What I find especially intriguing is that, at one university, some teachers who have historically been under their husband's iqama are now sponsored by the university/hiring company with iqamas that say "maid." |

Yes my wife works as a maid at King Saud University receiving 16,000 SAR a month. I may change my profession to KFU garbage cleaner for 18,000 SAR a month too.
