I was wondering if after obtaining legal employment for myself as a teacher in Japan (I am from the UK) would it be possible to immediately after apply for a dependant's visa for my Misus who is from Vietnam to join me in Japan with our 3 years old girl. I mean is the application process fairly straightt forward and fast or would this like countries in the Middle East and Europe take months and in some cases years before approval is given by immigration for her to join her husband (me) in Japan?
Thank you.[/quote] |

| I think it's pretty straightforward, assuming they have no criminal convictions I think it's pretty fast and easy to get family members in with a work visa holder, although I don't think they're allowed to work themselves. Even getting into England is done pretty quickly, the answer might be no but the actual process, although requiring more form-filling and finances than Japan, is not drawn out. |

| I'm on a dependent visa to my husband's work visa. We applied for them both at the same time and my paperwork was minimal. I think I had to fill in one form, copies of passport, marriage cert, some photos. I think that was all. I didn't need a police check certificate. Once we arrived I applied for permission to work, which was pretty much just a formality. I sat about in immigration for half a day and got a passport stamp which says I can work part time. That was for English teaching though. |
