|
|
Hi everyone..
I am doing research into going to UAE next year...but I've read several times now that people say that most, if not all, of the students here are difficult to manage.
Of cause one don't expect everyone to be angels...but are there then really no public- or private schools where the students at least in general are well behaved?
If you have taught at a school that was very good in that regard...or you know of someone at such a school...could you please tell me which ones they are...
Thank you kindly in advance.. |

From Teachaway's UAE FAQ page, "student behaviour varies according to school, age and gender of the students." You might contact them directly since the majority of posters on this forum teach EFL in universities. |

Teachaway has a Facebook page... those teachers might be the ones to query on this.
If you have impressive credentials, look for the International Schools used by the embassies and other expats. It is not easy to get positions at these institutions, but they are good jobs - pay, benefits, and teaching conditions. Beware that the term "American" or "British" in the name doesn't guarantee that there is anyone there of that nationality.
As Teachaway warns, the public schools are a crapshoot... as are the smaller private 'international' schools. Not for the timid or inexperienced... from what we hear on this board from the few K-12 teachers that show up.

Thank you nomad soul and veiledsentiments. That is very good advice...I will join Teachaway on facebook and find out. veiledsentiments, I am quite surprised that Teachaway is so straight forward with their views of the public schools there. The recruiters I have dealt with in the past were quite happy to gloss over information like that.
Thanks again. |

It is better for them to have informed teachers who, if they are unhappy with their position, don't come to places like this to blame the organization that hired them. It explains Teachaway's reputation as one of the best of the recruiter/contractors in the Gulf.
