I have an offer on the table.
The entire package is very good.
But I hear mixed reviews about actually living in Jeddah.
Some say it is more liberal ?
Whatever that means.
I know as a female I can swim in private beaches,
go to a variety of restaurants (family section) and I will have money to travel outside of Saudi....but is it worth it ?
I am hoping that Jeddah may actually be a very interesting cultural experience but if I am being nave-please feel free to share your experiences!

This topic has been discussed on this forum. But frankly, you know yourself, so only you can determine if it's worth it (whatver it is). No one can make that decision for you. By the way, if you had checked out any of the posts within this forum, you would have noticed that Saudi Arabia itself gets mixed reviews. So...

Gee Nomad Soul- that was not very helpful.

I thought the forum was a place where you can ask questions
about a country (what it is like to live there etc...) ?

I am looking for recent information from female teachers who are
actually living in Jeddah.
Any information would be helpful as I need to make a decision soon.
If anyone has current info. please feel free to post or PM me.
Thanks.

Accommodation is crucial. Where will you be living ?

It should be helpful because I'm probably the only female poster who has commented on life in Jeddah, where I've been working since early 2012. There are forum threads about Jeddah as well as single expat women in the Kingdom in general; I've done my fair share of contributions to each. Additionally, the various popular expat forums on Jeddah provide some useful info about life here. That's where I turn to for non-TEFL info.

Shabartly Village compound is a good place. I have a friend that lives there. You can PM me if you would like. In addition, I have lived in Jeddah for over four years.

Sharbatly is good. Do not confine yourself to the compound though. Taxis are plentiful and cheap. Some women prefr the "limousine" which is an up-market taxi. If you are a reader get intgo the BRITISH COMMUNITY LIBRARY. This is also a good contact p;oint for concerts and other "cultural life". info on other threads here. Try a search.
