I searched but most of the comments are several years old. It looks and sounds like a nice scenic place, but I can't seem to find anyone with comments about the school itself (Wuyi University). I'm just wondering how remote it is and whether administration at the school is legit. The offer itself seems pretty standard.

And this may come off as a silly question, but do most Universities in China have a gym/fitness center for students? I don't need anything special, just a power rack and some free weights. I've been getting myself in better shape and want to keep it going in China.

I was out there a couple of years ago as a tourist. I never went to the university, but have mulled over the idea of working there when I saw the ads online.

It is a gorgeous place, lots of nature, clean air...and that's it. It is VERY remote. Not only is it not near a city of any size...it's pretty much a FLIGHT to a city of any size. If you're looking for a quiet place where you can get away from "expat bubbles," this would be a good place. If you need to socialize with other foreigners and have a lot of western comforts or food, you might find it very isolating and go stir crazy.

That's kind of what I was afraid of after looking at a map. I think the combo of first teaching year + new country + few foreigners might be a lot to stomach...but I guess that's part of the adventure.

That Wuyishan uni job has been advertised near daily since the start of March.

There's *something* going on that is giving them trouble finding teachers.

I'd imagine the isolation is a huge part, but also I would have assumed that would appeal to some.

Wuyishon is a nice place - to visit. Living there full time might lead to psychosis.

I interviewed with the FAO of that school last month, and she seemed very nice.
The FT that I called told me good things about the school.
Possibly a good job for a newbie, or someone wanting to be someplace smaller and possibly quieter.

Too isolated for me, but others might like it.
