|

I have an second interview coming up with an international school in Abu Dhabi. The salary and benefits are about average with one exception. They only provide shared housing. I would have to share a 2/2 apartment with another teacher. However, they do provide transportation to and from the school, which is nice.
The school cites lack of available housing as the reason for shared accommodation. How common is shared housing with positions in Abu Dhabi? |

It doesn't happen at university level (except perhaps at some very small, rather marginal, private colleges). The top International schools would not have shared housing.
Personally, it would have been the end of my interview if that was presented as I would have never considered such a situation.

Thank you. That was my first instinct too but then I started second guessing myself and thinking maybe it was normal. I don't think I could stand having a roommate. I feel better knowing I am not the only one who couldn't do it. |
