Hello everyone, I recently got 4 offers from the universities listed below.
Please I will appreciate any help in narrowing down my choices to 2 or 3 universities based on University integrity, then finally choosing 1 based on contract and package.
Contributions will be appreciated. Thanks
1. Hebei Normal University
2. Jiangsu University of Science and Technology
3. Changchun Institute of Technology
4. Chongqing University
5. Chengdu College of Arts and Sciences |

I can't comment on those particular universities, but perhaps have a look at wikipedia and see if any of the universities are "Project 895" or "Project 211" universities (a goolge search will help you with that). These universities are the higher ranked universities in China. Can you ask to speak to current teachers at the universities? |

Thank you very much, I checked but only Chongqing is there lol. I will definitely have to ask for contact numbers/emails of foreign teachers. |

Another consideration is the pollution index, e.g., Chengdu and Chongqing have a toxic level of pollution. I don't know about the others, but you could google that information.

Thank you, I appreciate that insight. Does the school ranking really matter? What I mean is if China University rankings are recognised globally. If it isn't then I would rather go with one that offers better package and has great working culture (despite the ranking). |

You mean that you applied to those universities for employment and you were accepted. Ideally, you should have done your homework before you applied. If you wait too long to accept a position, it may be filled before you make up your mind.
That said, you're not very specific about the information that you want, and it doesn't appear that you've done much research on your own. You expect others to do it for you. I can see someone asking about one school, but four or five?
You ask about integrity. Google the school (or use an ESL forum search engine to see what comes up). See if there are complaints lodged against any of the schools. Though a lot of public complaints amount to personal gripes, such comments will give you an idea of the problems other FTs have experienced. |

Oh Bud is spot on to advise you to do some research before making the Great Leap Forward. There are many "personal" factors to consider in addition to the institution's ranking and package deal with perks (as well as student population, educational and technology resources for instruction, PD opportunities, curriculum), e.g.,
*do you prefer an urban or rural setting?
*quality of infrastructure (transportation, medical facilities, etc.)?
*the climate - can vary significantly
*cost of living - is that salary attractive, given the COL index?
*housing options
*types of leisurely activities available
*ex-pat community in proximity
*quality of internet access (and what ISPs and websites are blocked)
Location, location, location!
