Let me write from the start I don't have any idea what it is like to teach here yet (classes will start for me in early September).

Fuzhou is the capital city of Fujian province so much of what I want (in term of food, shopping, etc) is here. Compared to where I was last year in China it has alot more things from back home (USA).

The school is located next to or very near about 3 other colleges/universities so there are many students in the area. The campus is small but nice. Bus #89 begins and ends right by the school so traveling into town isn't a hassle. Wanda Plaza is about 15 to 20 minutes away while PowerLong Plaza would be about 25 minutes.

The foreign teachers live in a 4 story building and the rooms are good. They have a small refrigerator, a tv, desk, chair, bed, telephone, a/c, etc.
The first floor is where the kitchen is and the dining hall. The school hires a woman to cook and wash our clothes for a small monthly fee (optional). I signed up and have been very pleased with the quality and the portions of my meals. There is also a laundry room - two (or three?) washing machines and a dryer. The second floor has an English library with books of various topics (including teaching). The administration has been most helpful to me in arriving and getting myself acquainted with the area and the living here.

The university town is located quite a distance away from the actual city itself.

If you're young and want to have a good social life, I'd avoid Fuzhou. If you're married or retired, Fuzhou is a laid-back, relaxing place to live.
