I have a few offers. Does anyone have experience in the Shijiazhuang and Ordos/Hohot/Inner Mongolia areas?
My main concern is transportation. Inner Mongolia has given some good offers with higher pay (I am assuming teachers don't want to go there), but Shijiazhuang seems to be more centrally located. I can go west to places like Xian and east to Shandong. It's about 3 hours by train to Beijing.
If you know about the Inner Mongolia area, are there places to go by train (1-2 hour rides)? |

Shijiazhuang is a major transportation hub but there is not much else there. A friend of mine worked there for three years and has since moved south...he's been kicking himself in the ass for not moving out of there sooner. He said there are no redeeming factors about living there. Food is not special, pollution is not low by any measure, landlocked and featureless. |

I'm in Baotou. I like it here
Job is great, city is relaxed with friendly people, pollution not too bad (despite the heavy industry), we get quite a good deal of clear blue sky.
Plus I can take a bus journey north through some pretty epic, rolling grasslands and have been able to do some pretty good hikes (if that's what you like).
PM me if you want me to elaborate |
