Has anyone ever imported pets to SA? I was reading this:

http://www.the-saudi.net/business-center/regulation-import.htm
"Certificates regarding the shipment of pets:
bullet Health Certificate issued by a veterinarian and approved by the exporting country Department of Agriculture confirming that the animals are free from diseases
bullet Animal Vaccination Certificate"

Don't I need an import permit? This seems too easy! It can't be THAT simple! Does anyone have a link to the government regulations? I've known of people exporting pets from SA and there was nothing to it, but I don't know about importing there. PLEASE, no philosophical debates about animals or questioning ME why! If you can't offer real help, just move on and go to the next topic. This is very serious matter for me as well as my family. These animals will go or we don't go. It's that simple!

Oh, I just read that I need 'An import permit from the Saudi Arabia National Authority for the Protection of Wildlife and Development.'

http://www.moveoneinc.com/blog/europe/enpet-transportation-saudi-arabia/

Does anyone have a link to this office or know anything about getting this permit?

I suggest you check with your employer to see if pets are allowed in the accommodation they're providing you with. Anyway, also see "How can I get the proper paperwork to bring my cat to Riyadh" (http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?t=94135&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=cat&start=0).

Already asked. Not a problem to have pets there. Many expats have had pets on the compound for years. I read the link, but still unsure about how to get the import permit and the costs involved. I'm thinking about going first with a business visa, checking it all out and getting a permit while I'm there. Then return home shortly after that, get a proper visa and return back with the pets.

This article might be helpful, "How to Bring Your Pet..." (http://www.hziegler.com/articles/bringing-your-pets-to-middle-east.html).

Yes, I read that article and I now have the address and phone number to the office in Riyadh. But there's no website or email address. So it looks like I have to go out of my way to find someone to call there and speak to them in Arabic to find someone in the country who can help me get the forms to fill out. If someone on here has already had a vet there do it for them and they could provide me with their name, email and phone number, it would be most helpful!

You could ask Jeddah Vet Clinic. They have a website.

Are you planning on bringing a dog? Dogs are "najees", meaning religiously unclean, just a step above a pig.

The only dogs that I saw brought into the kingdom were a pair of salukis, and this person had a special relationship with a prince to make it happen. In other words, VERY BIG WASTA.

This is the magical kingdom. You may arrive with the pets, have all the paperwork signed, stamped etc. and get to the airport and find that Mohammed the immigration or customs official will deny you entry. You better find a prince to meet you at the airport to be assured entry.

I mean no disrespect, but considering all the issues you seem to be so rigid on, I suggest that SA would not be a happy place for you.

I'm not giving out information about my pets and I don't need your lecture about Saudi Arabia or negative opinions. You offer no help whatsoever. Be an adult and move on to the next topic! You have nothing to offer here.

I just got word that the employer is the one who has to process the import permit for the animals. So I guess if they refuse, I will not be going and I will cross Saudi off my list of places to go... for GOOD.

Is there anyone who as gotten an import permit without going through their employer? Can agents do that?

You may find this more difficult than you anticipate. If you find it difficult to take advice on a forum I wonder how you will react to the adversities of KSA.
