| Has anyone been to Zhangjiajie, northwestern part of Hunan? I'm considering a position there but would like to find others who have been there or who are at least familar with the area. It looks like it's in the mountains--what is the climate like there (i.e. how should I prepare?). Has anyone out there taught at Zhangjiajie College? I did find one old post but would like to hear from others. I'm also considering Hainan--very different places, I know. |

| Zhangjiajie is one of the most scenic places in China, certainly worth a visit. I have never taught there, but western Hunan is economically poor, relatively speaking. That should still not necessarily dissuade you from teaching there. |

True, it is scenic. I had a colleague who was a native from that area, and she claimed, no foreigners were allowed into it.
There still are places in China that are off limits to us.
Check with the authorities before you head there! |
